About
Lydia McCaig is a multi disciplinary artist based in the North West of England. She began her practice by writing poetry exploring female sexuality through exploring her own thoughts. She found poetry was a way to express hidden taboos in female sexuality. Through this work she developed a minimal and subtle style which she has continued with.
She began taking photographs to go alongside her poetry and eventually transitioned into just photographs. She takes photographs that are intimate and subtle, though her work began as an expression of her sexuality and continues to develop as she creates, not necessarily solely focusing on female sexuality.
Alongside her practice Lydia is also a co-founder of girls girls girls, a feminist based art duo who create exhibitions, workshops and events around the themes of equality, diversity, mental health, self-love and gender.
